Why Summer Triggers Fungal Feet

Heat plus sweat plus closed shoes equals fungus paradise. The dark damp space between your toes is the perfect home for a dermatophyte to settle in. By day five of any heat wave, the itch starts.

Ringworm Is Not A Worm

It is a fungus called dermatophyte. The red ring shape is the fungus spreading outward from the centre. The skin in the centre often heals first while the edge keeps creeping wider.

Why Steroid Cream Backfires

Steroid quickly numbs the itch but it also lowers the skin's defence. The fungus grows back in three weeks twice as wide. Most chronic fungal patches in India are post-steroid relapse cases.

Why Neem Actually Works

Neem leaves carry nimbidin, gedunin and nimbin. All three break the cell wall of dermatophyte fungus. Charaka Samhita listed neem as the first herb for kushta two thousand years ago.

Day 0: Make The Paste

Pluck fifteen fresh young neem leaves. Crush in a small stone mortar with a pinch of haldi and three drops of water. Mash into a smooth dark green paste. That is one dose.

Day 1-2: Apply Twice Daily

Wash the patch with cool water, pat dry. Spread a thin layer of fresh neem paste over the patch and one centimetre beyond the edge. Let it dry fifteen minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Day 3: The Itch Quiets

By the third evening, the burning itch fades by half. The redness softens. This is where most people stop. Do not stop. The fungus is still alive under the calm surface.

The Cool Decoction Rinse

Boil thirty whole neem leaves in two cups of water for ten minutes. Cool. Use the dark green water to rinse the patch once a day after your bath. Pour the rest in your bath bucket.

Three Mistakes That Restart The Ring

Sharing your towel with anyone in the house. Wearing the same pair of cotton socks two days in a row. Stopping the paste the day the itch quiets. Each mistake brings the ring back wider in two weeks.

Day 4-5: The Ring Shrinks

The outer edge slowly retreats inward. The centre dries and starts to flake. Keep the paste going twice daily. Switch to a fresh batch of leaves every morning. Old paste loses potency by lunch.

Day 7: Skin Returns To Normal

The ring is gone. The skin underneath feels slightly thin and pink. Continue once-a-day neem paste for three more days as insurance. Most relapses happen in week two if you stop on day seven.

Recap: One Bowl, One Week

Fifteen neem leaves. Pinch of haldi. Three drops water. Crush. Apply twice a day for seven days, once a day for three more. Rinse with neem decoction. Change socks daily. That is the whole plan.
